Head Cashier
Job Purpose:
Directs and maintains activities of Front-End Cashiers, Food Store Clerks, and service counter operations during assigned Shift.

Supervise Cashiers, Food Store Clerk “I” and Service Counter Staff.

Provides assistance to Cashiers relative to cash register punch discrepancies.

Reviews and verifies all Cashiers’ tapes and supporting documentation at end of shift for accuracy; and justification when required.

Trains Food Store Clerk "I"s relative to proper "bagging" procedures.

Maintains cognizance of products and product code codes sold in the store, store documentation, advertising/promotions, programs, projects, policies, practices, procedures, rules and regulations and correspondingly answers customers’ questions. To also include Maolek Rewards/ Maolek Pricing.

Maintains knowledge of "velocity codes"-codes that identifies produce, magazines, cased items, etc.-for ease of tabulating prices.

May "bag" grocery items for customers when needed.

Timely, informs management of problems and unresolved issues unable to handle.

Verifies and documents cash, personal and "WIC" Program (Women, Infant & Children) checks, and food stamps count of each and all Cashiers at shift end; calculate total and secures funds in safe; and prepare deposits for bank

Produce and display Think Specials daily

Issues charges for approved clients.

Orders change fund as needed.

Prepares and completes closing reports at end of shift.

Provides assistance relative to monthly and fiscal inventory.

Directs customers to proper location when asked where items can be found.

Displays and provides “role model” good customer service skills.

Responsible for training new cashiers and re-training cashiers.

Maintains communications with baggers and cashiers through daily short huddles.

Education/Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
2–3 years of related work experience

Mathematical Skills
-
Demonstrates initiative and ability to work under limited supervision
Certifications

Valid Alcohol Beverage Control license (ABC license)

Valid Health Certificate
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Able to run cash register efficiently

Able to read and speak in English

Must be able to uphold our company’s mission statement

Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff and customers

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Google docs
